 Rhodolite Garnet

Rhodolite garnets are gems that appear as transparent red-pink-purplish gemstones. The colors from different rhodolite sources may vary from a lavender pink to raspberry rose or raspberry red and from purplish-violet (grape) to purplish red.

 The use of all shades of Rhodolite garnets can be traced back to ancient egyptian times with Pharaohs wearing elaborate necklaces laden with the gem and to ancient Rome where carved Garnets where set into rings to use as wax seals.

Known also as almandite, almandine garnets have been popular throughout history. Almandine has been used in jewellery as early as 3 500 BC. Almandine Garnet unites the energy and passion of scarlet and red, with more muted and earthy overtones of brown.
